Privacy Policy
oh-my-md is built on an uncompromising local-first philosophy. We believe your notes, ideas, and documents belong solely to you on your machine—never trapped in proprietary clouds or monitored by background trackers.
- Your Markdown files and images remain strictly on your local disk.
- No account, email, or sign-up is required to use the editor or this website.
- This website has zero tracking cookies, zero analytics beacons, and zero advertisements.
- The desktop application performs no silent telemetry or unprompted network calls.
1. Document Storage & Local Files
oh-my-md operates directly on standard plain-text .md files located on your computer's filesystem.
- We do not host your documents on remote servers or sync engines.
- Pasted screenshots and images are saved to an adjacent local
assets/directory on your disk. - We never inspect, scan, index, or transmit the contents of your workspace.
2. Website Data Collection & Zero Telemetry
This website (ohmd.us) is statically generated. It functions completely without server-side user databases or client-side surveillance:
- No Analytics Scripts: We do not load Google Analytics, Cloudflare Web Analytics beacons, or tracking pixels.
- No Advertising Networks: We do not embed ad banners or third-party behavioral cookies.
- No External CDN Fonts: All typography relies on native system font stacks, meaning your browser makes no outbound requests to font providers.
3. Network Interaction on Downloads
When you click download links on this website:
- Release packages are hosted on public GitHub Releases. When initiating a download, your web browser connects directly to GitHub's infrastructure.
- As with any standard web transaction, GitHub's servers receive conventional network metadata (such as your IP address, HTTP user agent, and timestamp). Those interactions are governed by GitHub's Privacy Statement.
4. Desktop App Network Isolation
The desktop application (built with Tauri 2 and Rust) maintains strict isolation from external services:
- The app runs entirely offline for everyday writing, editing, math rendering, and diagram generation.
- This 0.0.1 release does not claim a working in-app updater.
- No background usage statistics, crash telemetry, or diagnostics are transmitted without explicit user action and knowledge.
5. Inquiries & Security Contact
If you have questions about our privacy commitments or wish to responsibly disclose a security concern, please refer to our Support Hub or submit a private report via GitHub Security Advisories.
